The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations has launched and is the first major update to BS 7671 since 17th edition landed ten years ago, with a further amendment in 2015.

To keep up with industry demands and advances in technology, the updates will have a direct impact on making installations safer. Some of the significant changes to the regulations include extensive detail on parts 1 to 7, which covers protection against over voltages (clause 443), protection against fire (chapter 42), the extension of section 753 to include embedded heating systems and a new section on energy efficiency.
