We have been made aware from the IET that several publications have been counterfeited, with fake versions now in circulation.

This could mean the information included in BS 7671, the On-Site Guide, Guidance Note 3 and the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment is incorrect and following guidance from these books could lead to unsafe work – potentially resulting in fire, electric shock or even death.

To deter people from purchasing counterfeited publications, the IET has placed a hologram on the inside cover of the following books:

  • BS 7671
  • On-Site Guide to BS 7671
  • Guidance Note 3

The hologram is to help you identify a fake and currently contains the IET logo in two sizes and the word ‘GENUINE’, as well as several additional features.

For more information on the hologram, and for guidance on what you should do if you suspect you have a fake book, visit www.theiet.org/fake-regs1.

Centrica Business Solutions is an approved supplier of the IET, so you can be sure you are purchasing genuine copies from us at all times.
