The latest amendment to the BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations came into effect on 28th March 2022 and the industry should be ready to work to this before BS 7671:2018+A1:2020 is withdrawn on 27th September 2022.

This webinar will cover the key changes introduced to BS7671 by Amendment 2, including a new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs), updated requirements for the fire safety design for buildings and a new chapter on Prosumer’s Low Voltage Electrical Installations. The webinar aims to refresh your knowledge on the wiring regulations and support you in navigating and referencing BS 7671.

Significant changes covered include:

  • A new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in some AC final circuits for installations in some types of higher risk residential buildings
  • The requirement for the fire safety design of buildings to be documented where specific conditions of external influence exist, such as protected escape routes and locations with risk of fire
  • Method for determining the requirement to provide overvoltage protection
  • Changes to identification, labels and notices, such as for consumer units, affecting how safety information is provided to the user of the electrical installation
  • A chapter on Prosumer’s Low Voltage Electrical Installations, in a new part, Part 8

If you would like to take the City & Guilds 2382-22 exam, this is priced at £100 + VAT. Please contact the team who will be happy to arrange this for you.

FAQ's

I have not attended an 18th Edition course with Centrica before. Does the free 18th Edition book offer apply?

Unfortunately, the offer only applies to existing customers. You will need to purchase a Regs book for the webinar separately. We can supply this for £99.

I attended the 18th Edition course with Centrica through my previous employer. Do I still qualify for the free Regs book?

Yes, we will just need to verify your details to confirm the offer applies to you.

I already have a copy of the new Regs publication, so I don’t need a further copy.

That’s fine, we will make a note that you do not need a book.

How will I receive a copy of the Regs book?

This will be posted out to you ahead of the webinar taking place to the company address provided upon booking. There will be no charge for postage.

I have not completed an 18th Edition course before. Would you advise I attend the webinar?

No, we would recommend that you attend the 3-day 18th Edition course or 1-day 18th Edition Refresher course depending on your existing experience. The 1-day course is recommended for those who hold the 17th Edition Amendment 3 qualification. If no previous regs qualification is held, or you have 17th Edition Amd 3 but feel you would benefit from some more in-depth training on the regs, the 3-day course would be beneficial.

I hold an 18th Edition qualification, would the best option for me be to attend the webinar or a 1-day update course?

This would depend on your experience and familiarity with the regs. The 1-day refresher course will cover off all changes made to the publication from 17th Edition Amendment 3 to 18th Edition, including Amendment 1 (2020) and Amendment 2 (2022). The webinar will only detail the changes as referenced in Amendment 2.

Does the webinar include an exam?

No, the webinar will solely cover the changes included in the new 18th Edition regs publication (BS7671:2018+A2:2022). If you would like to sit the City & Guilds 2382-22 examination following the webinar, the cost for this is £100 + VAT.

Do I need to complete an exam to keep my qualification up to date?

No, there is no requirement to complete an exam to maintain your 18th Edition qualification – the City & Guilds 2382-18 qualification still stands. However, if you would like to have the most recent version of the qualification, there is an option to sit the City & Guilds 2382-22 exam for £100 + VAT.

How soon can I sit the exam after the webinar?

For online remote invigilation or to sit the examination at one of our remote venues (Salford, Birmingham, Newbury, Tunbridge or Glasgow) 3 weeks’ notice is required. Flexible options are available for examinations at our Rotherham venue.

What happens if I don’t attend a webinar/update course before BS 7671:2018+A1:2020 is withdrawn on 27th September?

It is important you are up to speed before this date as all new installations will be required to comply to Amendment 2. You will need to be aware of the changes made to ensure you are installing to the correct standards from this date.

Will I be issued with a certificate following the webinar?

Yes, you will be issued with a Centrica certificate of attendance confirming the subjects covered in the webinar.
